Welcome to this exhibition of some of the work and products that have gone out from our showrooms and joinery shop in recent times. As you can see there are many and varied finishes that can be applied to doors producing some stunning results.

  • Bead and Butt Cottage Doors Bead and Butt Cottage Doors These 'Bead&Butt' Cottage Doors were custom made in our workshop. The door is fitted with Anvil penny type hinges and Suffolk Latch. These doors are ideal for barn conversions and old cottages where the sizes are typically lower and wider than the doors of today – we can make them to suit any opening.

  • Cheltenham Old American Door This is a triple glazed Cheltenham Old American Door. This door [as shown] should only be fitted where there is a porch or where it is protected by a canopy as the bolection mouldings are quite likely to be damaged over time with constant exposure to the elements.

  • 4 panel Colonial Door 4 panel Colonial Door 4 panel Colonial Door 4 panel Colonial Door This 4 panel Colonial Door with bolection moulds exactly matches the original which has been replaced after being in service for 100 years. The accessories fitted to the munting are a Kirkpatrick letter plate and postal knocker [number 976], fitted to the middle rail a centre knob with rose [number 3064] and fitted over the deadlock key hole an escutcheon with cover [number 1190]. The door and ironmongery keeps the front elevation of this cottage in character with others in the row. Pictures courtesy of Miss Vesty.

  • Colonial Door This four panel hardwood Colonial door is fitted with a satin chrome letter plate plus a Yale lock and escutcheon cover for the dead lock all of which match those that were on the door they replaced.

  • Cottage Style Door Cottage Style Door Cottage style door after being finished in our workshop with Farrow & Ball paint, colour 'Ver De Terre'. Right hand image shows the cottage door fitted – note how well the ironmongery and leaded glass compliment the 'traditional look'.

  • Derby Door Derby Door External hardwood triple glazed Derby Door treated with three coats of Sadolin Classic Antique Pine. When fitted into the existing frame as this one was and where there is no integral draught strip we recommend that a draught strip is fitted externally. As can be seen this door is set back under a porch as all doors with protruding mouldings should be to avoid problems later which will be caused by the weather.

  • IFG50 Pattern Doors IFG50 Pattern Doors A beautiful pair of hardwood doors known as 'IFG50 Pattern'doors. These doors come pre-glazed with clear bevelled glass and have been stained with Sadolin Classic Antique Pine.

  • Ledged and Braced Door Ledged and Braced Door Ledged and Braced Door Custom made framed, ledged and braced door with aperture to take glass bullion. This extra wide but low door was made for a cottage in Rutland.

  • Louis Door Louis Door Louis Door Internal hardwood Louis Door stained in our workshop in Sikkens Teak finish to match banister rails, spindles and newel posts.

  • Pattern 22 Door Pattern 22 Door Pattern 22 Door Pattern 22 Door This pair of hardwood doors are known as the 'Pattern 22' door. They are fitted with traditional leaded glass [WD50]. Zoom in on the glass and you will see the different colours in the squares, there are no set patterns for this and you can choose whichever colours you prefer. Pictures courtesy of Mrs Moore.

  • Side Gate Side Gate An extra large custom made side gate with shaped top coated in Sadolin Antique Pine. The deadlock is fitted in a timber lock block and there are raised lock blocks for the Suffolk Latch.

  • Storey Frame Storey Frame Custom made Storey Frame coated with aluminium primer ready to be fitted.

  • Storey Frame Fitted Hardwood Churchgate Door with leaded glass fitted into a custom built Storey Frame. Finished in Sadolin Classic Antique Pine.

  • Terraced Cottage Terraced Cottage 2 The first picture is a view of a completely out of character plastic door that had been fitted to a terraced cottage. See the real thing in the adjacent image. This is the hardwood Wordsworth Door with Storey Frame which replaced the plastic door and brought the cottage back to the way it looked when it was built in 1902. The sealed unit glass pack fitted is called Fleur and the letter plate, knob and escutcheons are all in satin chrome. The coating is Dulux Weathershield.

  • Welland Door and Frame Welland Door and Frame This is a solid oak Welland Door and Frame which has been coated in our workshop with Sadolin Classic Light Oak finish. The glass pack is traditionally leaded [number WD57]. Also fitted are Kirkpatrick letter plate, lever lock handles and escutcheon. Footnote: Traditional leading is where coloured glass is secured in a framework made from lead strips which are not to be confused with modern 'leaded glass' where lead strips and a coloured film are applied to the surface of the glass.

  • Wordsworth External hardwood Wordsworth Door fitted with decorative brass door knocker. The door was painted in our workshop prior to delivery in a '‘green eggshell' finish.

  • Wordsworth + Letter Plate External hardwood Wordsworth Door showing aperture cut to take letter plate; this procedure is best done in the workshop where the correct machinery is available. Some of the openings we have seen which were cut onsite look like they were done with a knife and fork! This door was painted in our workshop in gloss blue Farrow and Ball paint (excellent quality). Judging by the work we are doing it seems paint is making a comeback at the expense of staining.

  • Wordsworth Door Inside A view of the same blue Wordsworth Door painted on it's internal side at the customer's request in a lighter colour to compliment the customer's interior decoration.
